Since its founding in February 2006 Persevere has responded to three natural disasters in the United States. Persevere deployed full-time in Mississippi for over a year during its Katrina Relief Project. From Mississippi Persevere also deployed for two separate week-long responses. The first, to Lady Lake, FL, was in response to the Ground Hog Day Tornados that hit central Florida. Persevere closed its Katrina Relief Project for several days while its four long-term volunteers traveled to Florida and coordinated volunteer labor in Lady Lake. The second week-long response, to the tornado in Enterprise, Alabama, was run simultaneously with the Katrina Relief Project. Persevere’s volunteer operations staff successfully coordinated volunteers both in Mississippi and the devastated town of Enterprise. Click the links below for more detailed reports on each project |
