Our Mission
Persevere Disaster Relief is a Massachusetts based nonprofit organization committed to assisting communities in the wake of extensive disaster. Through implementing various initiatives and projects that address changing and unmet needs, Persevere aims to both restore a sense of normalcy and improve the quality of life in the areas it serves.
Those affected by disaster are faced with a seemingly insurmountable and overwhelming task of picking up the pieces and rebuilding. The focus of Persevere is to provide small solutions for each community member we come into contact with, and in turn, give them hope for the future and a foundation to help them persevere.
Persevere is staffed by motivated volunteers who dedicate their time and resources in any way that they can, whether by living as full-time volunteers in a disaster zone, making repeated trips to the region or providing satellite assistance from across the nation.
We are a versatile organization that is able to adapt to the changing needs in the communities we serve.
Persevere has responded to four disasters since its inception in February 2006. In 2007 while continuing our long term Katrina recovery project in Mississippi volunteers from Persevere assisted the communities of Lady Lake, Florida and Enterprise, Alabama clean- up after devastating tornados ripped through their cities. Both tornado response projects were short term but produced big results for the survivors we helped.
Persevere volunteers created over 400 temporary street signs with a local Pass Christian elementary school and shipped them to Greensburg, Kansas after a May 2007 tornado all but wiped Greensburg off the map.
Please donate to Persevere Disaster Relief and our fast acting and effective disaster response efforts. We are able to help those affected quickly by providing them with concrete support and comfort. Many times just our presence and the knowledge that they(the survivors of disaster) are not alone in their time of need provides them with the strength to take the next step toward recovering and moving forward.
